Rosemary is a local lady and was actually born in Hampden Park. She is now 94 and has lived at Inglewood for a little while now. She has always enjoyed living in Eastbourne and has particularly fond memories of going to the beach as a child and teenager and then taking her own children to the beach and remembers these times as good and happy ones.
Her favourite subject at school was Maths but her favourite teacher was Mr.Brown, who taught geography and history. She particularly remembers how good looking he was!
Rosemary wanted to do something interesting when she left school and worked in the education sector and she thought it was fascinating. ‘Everyone was so nice and I really enjoyed my time there’.
Rosemary had known her husband, Raymond, from school and recalls that he asked her out very casually by saying, ‘how about seeing me’. He was a jeweler and made her some very special pieces that she treasures. They were married in 1949 and had two children. Her daughter lives locally in Eastbourne and her son lives in Kent.
She remembers knitting Fairisle jumpers for the family. She learned to knit at school and was so good that the teacher asked her to knit her a jumper. Rosemary also enjoyed gardening and flower arranging and was always out in the garden when she could. Holidays would be spent in many different countries, France, Italy, Germany and made a lot of friends along the way.
