Donna-Hemington-Administrator-Inglewood-Nursing-HomeHere at Inglewood Nursing Home, we’re delighted to welcome Donna Hemington as our new administrator. Donna brings a wealth of experience, a passion for organisation and a deeply personal approach to her role, cultivated over years of professional and life experiences across two continents.

Donna grew up in the vast open spaces of Ontario, Canada, with her seven sisters and three brothers. Her father was a steelworker in the construction industry, with two of Donna’s brothers eventually following in his footsteps. As a young adult, Donna moved over a thousand miles west to the prairie province of Alberta where she was to live and work for the next three decades, and where she later met her second husband, Andrew, who is from the UK.

Donna qualified as an executive secretary and began her career as a secretary in the financial services sector. She went on to gain invaluable experience while working with such firms as MNP Limited, one of Canada’s leading accountants.

After moving to the UK four years ago with Andrew, Donna sought new job opportunities and was drawn to the care sector. She started her journey at a home in Hailsham, which introduced her to the unique environment of residential care.

“I was initially looking for any role to get started here in the UK, but once I joined the home, I found that I loved the atmosphere, and enjoyed working with the residents and their families. Care felt like a perfect fit for me,” she says.

Donna then worked at an HC-One home in East Sussex before joining Inglewood at the end of 2024. Her early impressions are very positive. “Everyone is so friendly and helpful,” she says. “I’m really enjoying the work and the days are very full!”

Her day-to-day responsibilities include managing RotaCloud (the home’s shift and rota planning software), overseeing time sheets, attending meetings and supporting home manager Rani Raju and the team. Donna readily admits to a fondness for the organisational aspects of her job, honed during her time co-ordinating large-scale events in her previous financial services roles.

“It may sound crazy, but I love working with RotaCloud,” she laughs. “The organisational side is something I’ve always enjoyed. Back in Canada, I used to organise conferences for hundreds of senior managers and partners, so bringing that skill set to Inglewood feels very natural.”

She adds: “There’s so much to learn, but I feel very supported here. I’m looking forward to building relationships with everyone and contributing to the home’s warm and welcoming environment.”

Away from work Donna and Andrew live in a 1970s home that Andrew has been lovingly restoring over time. He works for a window company and is extremely good at DIY. The couple also treasure their regular visits to Canada to see their relatives – Donna’s two daughters, two grandsons and many nieces and nephews, plus Andrew’s three children!
