We enjoyed an afternoon of reminiscence, looking through old newspapers postcards and old fashion knitting patterns. Sparking lots of conversation between the residents, which we all enjoyed over tea and cakes.

Why are these activities important for our residents?

Reminiscence is an important activity, as it involves sharing thoughts and feelings of your own experiences to recall and reflect upon within one’s life and uses all the senses; sight, touch, taste, smell, and sound. Activities that involve reminiscence helps residents to remember events from the past, whether that includes certain people, places they’ve been on where they went on holiday.

It helps residents feel less isolated and can help reduce boredom and symptoms of depression. These sessions spark up lots of conversation between the residents can get quite noisy with everyone trying to tell their stories!
