Pam Gillard, Administrator, Inglewood Nursing Home, receives trophy for achieving 25 years' long service

Inglewood administrator Pam Gillard has recently celebrated 25 years’ service at the home.

Pam started as a receptionist in 1999, and was promoted to administrator when the home became part of Canford Healthcare in 2007. The role has always been busy and varied. It carries a lot of responsibility, too, and involves dealing with employee paperwork, DBS checks, purchase orders, checking timesheets for the monthly payroll process, showing prospective residents and their families around, taking meeting minutes and interviewing for new staff.

“I am so happy and proud to have reached 25 years’ service,” Pam says. “I love my job and always have. It’s great fun working here. The staff are like an extended family to me and call me their ‘work grandma’. It is such a pleasure to interact with the residents, too, and meet their relatives and friends, some of whom I went to school with, as I am an Eastbourne girl born and bred!”

She adds: “There is a joke at the home that I will not retire but simply go into a room!”

On Pam’s 25th anniversary, home manager Rani Raju presented her with a special anniversary trophy, a card signed by all the staff and a beautiful orchid.

“I have known Pam now for over 17 years. My first encounter with her was when I phoned Inglewood asking if they had any vacancies for a registered nurse,” recalls Rani.

“She said that the home did and asked where I lived so that she could post an application form to me. As it happened, we lived in the same road and Pam said she’d drop the form to me in person. All these years later, she is exactly the same as she was during my first meeting with her. She is always kind, supportive and happy.”
